Clubs/Activities

 

Howe Sound Secondary has a wide selection of clubs for students to participate in. Below are the clubs that are currently happening. Please check the daily announcements for the most up-to-date club information. New members are always welcome to join our clubs.

 

NEWSPAPER CLUB: This group is responsible for producing “Howe It Sounds”, an online and print newspaper for students by students. Come join the group on Mondays at lunch in B203.

PING PONG CLUB: Come to the MPR at lunchtime on Monday to play some ping pong.

CHESS & GAMES CLUB: Join our chess & games club in the Art room, A107 at lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

DIVERSITY CLUB: The Diversity Club is inclusive of all students, including LGBTQ2, and meets to discuss any and all topics important to emotional and physical well-being. Join the group on Tuesdays at lunch in B209.

BADMINTON CLUB: The Badminton Club takes place after school bi-weekly on Wednesdays in the gym.

SOCIAL JUSTICE CLUB: The Social Justice Club meets on Wednesdays at lunch in B209.

BOOK CLUB: Come enjoy a great book and a great discussion. The HSS Book Club meets on the first and last Thursday of each month. New members are always welcome.

DANCE CLUB: Join Dance Club on Thursdays at lunch time in the Green room.

FILM CLUB: The Film Club takes place at lunch time on Thursdays in room B210.

LANGUAGE CLUB: Join the Language Club at lunch time on Thursdays in room B115.

MATH CLUB:  Our Math Club runs on Thursdays in B117. Learn new things, practice for the U. of Waterloo math competitions, and play games. Tutoring is available. Everyone is welcome.

Rugby Club:  In partnership with the Squamish Axemen Rugby Club, this group provides training and scrimmage gameplay on Thursday from 5:30 pm on the HSS field for grade 10-12 boys. All experience levels are welcome.

LAW CLUB: The HSS Law Club is perfect for anyone who wants to pursue law or is interested in the legal field. The Law club will meet every other Friday at lunch in room B201. This club is an opportunity to learn more about the legal system, improve public speaking, and grow your critical thinking skills.
